Common tendon

(a) The optic nerve was cut off near the entrance; (b) Septum bony between the optic foramen and the sphenoid [superior orbital] fissure rounded; (c) The dura mater is cut off, where it becomes the periosteum of the orbit; (d) Superior rectus muscle; (e) Levator palpebrae superioris; (f) Common tendon, from which the abductor, adductor, and depressor muscles (lateral rectus, medial rectus, and inferior rectus muscles) originate (annulus of Zinn); (g) The tendinous branches arising from the common ligament, going off to their muscles; (h) Lateral rectus muscle; (i) Inferior rectus muscle; (k) Medial rectus muscle.
