Androgen receptor protein structure

The androgen receptor protein has three major domains: (1) an N-terminal trans-activating domain, (2) a DNA-binding domain, and (3) a ligand-binding domain. The N-terminal domain contains the polyglutamine tract, where the major transactivating function occurs. The DNA binding domain (DBD) contains zinc finger structures that facilitate androgen receptor binding to DNA. The ligand binding domain in the C-terminus also contains minor transactivating function. (Contributed by Dr. Cory Toth.)
