Central white matter diminution (photomicrograph)

The central white matter of the folia is greatly reduced and the molecular layer is thickened. There are an increased number of small nuclei in the molecular layer that suggest oligodendrocytes. Myelin is stained blue. (Luxol fast blue/periodic acid-Schiff reaction; x100) (Contributed by Dr. Laura Hair.)
