Viewed from the side, this low-magnification view of a Petri dish culture plate, shows two Bacillus anthracis bacterial colonies. The colony on the left was untouched, whereas the colony on the right was teased, thereby illustrating its characteristic colonial tenacity: a small spire of colonial matter remained standing on its own support without toppling.
