MRI scan of 8-month-old with fetal alcohol syndrome. (A) T1-weighted midsagittal image demonstrates a hypoplastic corpus callosum (arrow). All other brain structures appear normal. (B) Flair axial section demonstrates absence of the corpus callosum at a rostro-caudal level in which a corpus callosum would normally be present. The lateral ventricles are moderately enlarged, but there is no evidence of obstructive hydrocephalus. (C) T1-weighted coronal image demonstrates bundles of Probst (arrows), white matter bundles aborted in their attempt to cross the midline. (Contributed by Dr. Daniel Bonthius.)
