Severe neonatal myotonic dystrophy (chest roentgenogram)

This newborn boy had right diaphragmatic paralysis and no movement of that hemidiaphragm on real-time fluoroscopy. The bell-shaped thorax and thin ribs are characteristic in many unrelated congenital neuromuscular diseases and are not specific for myotonic dystrophy.
