(MR) Medial rectus adducts the eye. (SR) Superior rectus supraducts eye and contributes to intorsion. (IR) Inferior rectus infraducts the eye and contributes to extorsion. (IO) Inferior oblique supraducts the eye when the eye is adducted and extorts the eye. Muscles not controlled by the third nerve are shown in parentheses: (LR): Lateral rectus, innervated by the sixth nerve, abducts the eye.
