Former German SS officer and commandant of the Auschwitz concentration camp Rudolf Franz Ferdinand Höss (also Höß, Hoeß, or Hoess; 1901-1947), during his trial in Warsaw, Poland, in 1947, after which he was declared guilty then hanged as a war criminal in 1947 in Auschwitz, the place of his crimes.
