This patient demonstrates the effects of a condition known as crab yaws on the palm of his right hand. Crab yaws is characterized by hyperkeratosis with fissuring and ulceration of the soles of the feet and, less commonly, as was the case here, by hyperkeratosis involving the palms of the hands.
