A papillomatous lesion on the breast due to yaws infection

This papillomatous lesion of 2 weeks duration, developed on the left breast of a 30-year-old woman after she breastfed her 13-month-old infant. The infection was diagnosed as yaws. The infection began spreading to her back and chin. The Venereal Disease Research Laboratory (VDRL) test produced a positive result of 1:8 and was accompanied by the microhemagglutination assay (MHA-TP) test, which was also reactive, or positive. Treatment for this patient consisted of an intramuscular injection of 2.4 mega (million) units of benzathine benzylpenicillin.
