Toxoplasma abscess (gross anatomy)

A distortion and loss of the dark markings on the right subthalamus represent a toxoplasma abscess in a patient at autopsy. This patient presented with hemiballism as a manifestation of HIV infection. (Contributed by Dr. Avindra Nath.)
