Representation of the medieval cell doctrine (1562) from Venetian humanist writer Lodovico (or Luigi) Dolce (1508/10-1568). This is a close copy of the representation of the medieval cell doctrine by Romberch (1520). Note the engraved connections from the special sense organs to the brain, particularly from the olfactory bulbs to the sensus communis in the anterior portion of the anterior ventricle.
