Woodcut of the medieval cell doctrine (1518) by Johann Peyligk (1474-1512) in Leipzig. These are unique among woodcuts of this period in showing both lateral ventricles. This woodcut labels the functions of the special sensory organs but does not show connections between the special sensory organs and the brain.
