Choroid plexus cyst of the lateral ventricle at autopsy in a 35-week gestational age fetus with multiple congenital anomalies in other organs. This cyst shows the choroid plexus epithelium external to the cyst, within the ventricular CSF, and the cyst lumen is the base of the frond. Another type of choroid plexus cyst exhibits the epithelium internal to the cyst, facing the lumen (not shown). In both types, the choroid plexus epithelium is simple cuboidal, not pseudo-stratified. Hematoxylin-eosin stain. X100. (Contributed by Dr. Harvey Sarnat.)
