Henry Hun's case of lateral medullary syndrome (1897), 4 years before the pathology from Wallenberg's case was published. Diagram of the nerve tracts and nuclei destroyed by the foci of softening. The sensory and coordinating fiber tracts are purposefully drawn out of their course in order that they shall not pass across the dark nuclei and thus lead to confusion. (Source: Hun H.
