(Left) Two symmetrically placed, intramedullary metastatic tumors have destroyed the first sacral segment of the spinal cord. (Hematoxylin-eosin; x7.8) (Center) Rostral to the tumors, the entire fifth lumbar segment has undergone coagulation necrosis, and the central portion has begun to liquefy.
