Fusiform dilation in fibromuscular dysplasia (angiograms)

(A) Patient 1: Right common carotid artery injection, lateral view. Concentric irregularity and fusiform enlargement (“string of beads” appearance) of the distal cervical and vertical petrous internal carotid artery is consistent with fibromuscular dysplasia. (B) Patient 2: Left internal carotid artery injection, AP view. Fusiform dilation of the distal vertical petrous and proximal horizontal petrous left internal carotid artery and tubular stenosis of the distal horizontal petrous left internal carotid artery is an atypical form of fibromuscular dysplasia.
