This video demonstrates a woman with malignant catatonia. The first part demonstrates “catalepsy” in which the patient passively adopts the new posture after the examiner elevates her right arm. The second part demonstrates “posturing” in which the patient maintains the fixed posture of the right arm and leg elevation for several minutes. (Contributed by Dr. Pichet Termsarasab.)
