Myofascial pain patterns of the infraspinatus muscle (1)

Myofascial pain referred to the anterior shoulder joint is usually secondary to infraspinatus, or levator scapulae trigger points (x's). Symptoms include pain when lying on either shoulder, inability to reach behind to a back pocket, or in front to comb hair. (A) Essential (solid red) and spillover (stippled red) referred pain projects primarily to the anterior deltoid region, extending down the anterolateral arm and forearm, and sometimes the radial half of the hand, and suboccipital region.
