Cortinarius orellanus mushrooms

Individuals who intended to harvest psilocybin-containing hallucinogenic mushrooms harvested these mushrooms by mistake (Raff E, Halloran PF, Kjellstrand CM. Renal failure after eating "magic" mushrooms. CMAJ 1992;147(9):1339-41).

These Cortinarius orellanus mushrooms contain a potent nephrotoxin, orellanine, which can cause irreversible kidney failure. (Source: Michaelll at http://fotofunghi.altervista.org/21/index.php.
