Paraneoplastic cerebellar degeneration (photomicrograph)

Photomicrograph of normal human cerebellar cortex stained with serum from a patient with breast carcinoma, paraneoplastic cerebellar degeneration, and anti-Yo antibodies. The indirect immunoperoxidase technique yields characteristic brown clumped staining of Purkinje cell cytoplasm. Neuronal and glial cell nuclei in the molecular layer (above) and granular layer (below) are counterstained with hematoxylin. (Original magnification x100) (Contributed by Dr. Edward Dropcho.)
