South African WfW worker personal protective equipment stored with household laundry

South African Working for Water (WfW) workers were unaware that residues could remain on washed personal protective equipment and be transferred to household laundry and consequently held the view that drying personal protective equipment together with household laundry did not pose any risk. The WfW program is a national government-wide initiative that hires unemployed members of poor, marginalized communities to use herbicides for the removal of alien invasive plant species.
