Brain MRI shows multiple cystic brain lesions of variable sizes. A typical cyst consists of a peripheral rim and an eccentric scolex. The cyst is filled with a clear fluid. These lesions represent viable cysts. Year 2017 Clinical Practice Guidelines by the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) and the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH) recommend albendazole (15 mg/kg/day) combined with praziquantel (50 mg/kg/day) for 10 to 14 days for such patients.
