Although he may never have attended university, Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) was a true scholar of the Renaissance. His contributions to civil and mechanical engineering, the creative arts, and natural philosophy are nothing short of extraordinary. Less well popularized--although of equal importance--were his accomplishments in the field of anatomy.
